The International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) is a scientific and educational organization that exists to promote the study and knowledge of hydrogeological science and its application for common good throughout the world. The IAH was established in 1956 to promote cooperation, to advance the science of hydrogeology worldwide and to facilitate the international exchange of information on groundwater.
IAH now has nearly 4000 members and associate members in 135 countries. The "main office" is in the United Kingdom (visit www.iah.org for more information).
35 National Chapters of the IAH organization, of which the Canadian National Chapter (CNC) is one of the largest, have been established to promote local cooperation and member involvement. The CNC currently has approximately 400 members, with representation right across Canada. We are an active organization that offers members a variety of talks, seminars, networking opportunities, and conferences.
The IAH (international organization) has the following major activities:
In addition to receiving the Hydrogeology Journal and international newsletter, the CNC also produces a national newsletter that is published twice a year to keep IAH-CNC members informed of association activities.
We welcome all hydrogeologists, scientists, engineers and others who have an interest in groundwater resources to join and support our organization. Visit the IAH-CNC membership area for information on how to join the IAH.
Please explore our site and feel free to contact any of the IAH-CNC Executive or Regional Representatives if you have questions.
